Malta Fashion Week- Pronovias, The Bridal Show

Hi Guys!

Day Two of the  Malta Fashion Week kicked off with a Bridal & Cocktail Dresses show sponsored by the renowned brand Pronovias.

Today we were hit by Wedding Fever BIG TIME, Denise had a wedding last night whilst Martina rushed over from a wedding to enjoy the stunning show put on by Malta Fashion Week and Pronovias.

We were joined by one of our biggest supporters Anthony, Martina's boyfriend who (for once) wanted us to share his OOTD alongside our OOTD.

The show was held at Casino Maltese in the heart of Valletta. The setting was mostly on white and the main spotlight was given to the models who trailed the hallways looking stunning in various wedding gowns and cocktail dresses.

Overhearing various people talking, we realised that not only were we joined by other fashion enthusiasts but many of the people in attendance were in fact brides to be.

Not only did brides to be have the opportunity to view various wedding dresses from the collection but they could also get hair and make up ideas for their big day.

Hair (by Marielle of Prive) had a very romantic feel were a variety of hair styles including up styles and gentle curls were chosen to compliment each dress whilst the Make Up (by Elaine Galea) was kept as natural as possible for the bridal models whilst the other models had a more smoky/ evening eye look.

What we enjoyed from this show is that it catered for each different style of wedding dresses. You could see sheer dresses which give a modern twist to the Cinderella ball gown type of dress to the lace details made famous by Grace Kelly to various embellishments perfect for an evening wedding!

As I grew up I always had that ideal wedding dress in mind since from a young age I have always had a guilty pleasure for wedding dresses always peeking in shop windows and always building up my idea of the ideal wedding dress. This show however ,has put many different styles into perspective for me that come my wedding day I know I will definitely have various options from where to choose from.

Apart from having various wedding dresses to choose from, one could also see a number of cocktail dresses which one could wear when attending a wedding. A comment which struck me by a person in the audience was that she was thinking of using said cocktail dresses for her bridesmaids and adapting them to her needs, as one can see from the below pictures these dresses were in fact both ideal for guests and bridesmaids.

Our good friend Gaby from Supernova Models posed for us to get a closer look at her make up. Gaby wore two dresses in the show which were an evening bridal dress and an evening cocktail dress therefore her make up was a subtle smoky eye to compliment both outfits.

Make Up Trends for Spring/ Summer 2012

Hi Guys!

Today we will be sharing Make Up Trends which will be big for Spring/Summer 2012!

“Out with the Old, In with the Bold” is spring 2012’s motto! We will be taking you through the most
wearable season’s make up looks as shown on the world’s biggest runways.

The likes of Tommy Hilfiger, DKNY and Micheal Kors amongst many others portrayed a contoured,
bronzed look on the runway. Make up artists channeled this look in different ways. Although the main idea was that of contouring their models’ cheek bones with bronzers, many opted for a heavily bronzed look to achieve that “sun-kissed” glow whilst others opted to make this look more natural by applying a light touch of bronzer together with a cream light pink blush to achieve that natural healthy glow.

We’re heading back to the sixties with one of the trends seen on the Dolce and Gabbana, Louis Vuitton and Giorgio Armani catwalks, the most sought after cat-eye look, made famous by Audrey Hepburn. Make up artists channeled this look by creating a natural look all over the face keeping the face and lips very minimal and emphasizing the eye area with a heavily winged look as seen in the picture below on a D&G model.

This look was also paired with two big trends, the Power Brow and Red lips famous in the sixties and forties respectively as seen on the Jean Paul Gautier runway.

The Power Brow and red lip played their part individually in some shows were they were respectively used as the “statement” look of the make up.

The Power Brow was used in various shapes and sizes, designers such as Versace opted for the brushed up brows whilst others opted for a bolder usually drawn in eyebrow such as Altuzarra.

Models channeled in their inner- Marilyn Monroe by sporting an array of red/orange lips in various shades starting from a reddish/orangey shade to a dark wine stained lip.

Two other bold eye statements were in the form of intense Smoky Eyes and a Silver/ White hue. These trends were seen on runway shows such as Gucci (source: Imaxtree.com) and Chanel respectively.

This season it is all about bold looks varying from Retro 1960’s looks to bold eyes, lips or contouring. Remember you may pair up two looks but be careful not to overdo it! One ‘big’ statement look is enough and do not be afraid to try out these looks and always go with what looks best on you whatever the trend, the important part is that you feel confident and empowering in what you are wearing!
