Nanokeratin System Brazilian treatment and straightening (part 1)

About a month ago, my cousin won a voucher for a Brazilian straightening via a television competition, and since her hair is already straight and she was pregnant at that time (pregnant women can't have the treatment done on them), she decided to give it to me!

This is not the first time that I did this treatment, last time was about 5 months ago. This time, I decided to review it for you guys!

So anyway, first of all, you may ask how does this treatment work? How can it be a treatment that straightens at the same time?  

The name Nanokeratin stems from the term “nano-molecules of keratin”. A nano-molecule is 0.000000001 of the size of a regular molecule, thus allowing it to penetrate the smallest fissures in the person's hair and fill them with keratin (the substance that makes hair strong, shiny and soft). As a result of the process, hair becomes smooth, healthy and full of shine.

I had my appointment yesterday and I was ready in 2 hours. 

I had it done at Curls Hair studio (http://www.curlshairstudio.com/index.html) in Balzan. The salon is enormous! It kind of reminded me of a salon I went to in France - as you enter the salon, you can find a reception desk and behind that, everything else. There also have loads of hair products! They also have a stage-line make-up stand. There's also a beauty salon inside ! It's seriously big and really professional.

Anyway, back to the treatment, the hair dresser washes your hair with just shampoo and then applies the treatments as if you were having it coloured. Then you let it stand for about 40 minutes or so and then starts blow drying your hair without washing off the treatment. While blow drying your hair, lots of fumes start coming out of your hair! Then, she uses a hair straightener all over your hair. And TA-DA!  Super straight, soft and silky hair! Amazing!

Now, for about 4 days or up to approximately 1 week, I have to leave my hair unwashed. I also can't tie it back up or do anything that might crease the hair. I have to basically leave my hair dry and as straight as possible for up to 1 week.
 After that, I have to wash my hair with a Nanokeratin shampoo and conditioner (love their smell!!) , which you may buy at the salon. If you use only them afterwards, the treatment may last for about 16 weeks.

Tried and Tested: Weleda Iris Cleansing Lotion

Hey Fabulous people!!

I'm going to review a cleanser whose brand I discovered a while ago and personally, I don't know why it's not more widely known here in Malta. I can't understand how people are still using Nivea, L'oreal and Garnier . . They test on animals and are loaded with lots of bad stuff!!!!

Weleda is cruelty free (not tested on animals), contains no parabens and use only natural ingredients  and essential oils. Essential oils in your daily cleanser - cool right?

Ingredients:Water (Aqua), Jojoba (Buxus chinensis) Oil, Alcohol, Glycerin, Witch Hazel (Hamamelis virginiana) Distillate, Sodium Beeswax, Magnesium Aluminium Silicate (Fullers Earth), Xanthan gum

Fragrance: natural essential oils (Iris Resinoid), Bergamot (Bergaptin-free), Geranium, Grapefuit, Lavender, Lemon, Rose, Rosemary, Sweet Orange), Glyceryl Linoleate, Orris (Iris germanica) Root Extract

So, the bottle is dark blue, made of glass and has 100 ml of product. The cap is made of plastic though.

What it says:

Cleans, purifies and invigorates. For those customers who may not wish to give up a classic, we have kept our original Iris Cleansing Lotion and naturally renamed it Iris Cleansing Lotion Classic. A little

lighter than our reformulated Iris Cleansing Lotion, it also works exceptionally well to clean the pores and care for the skin. Excellent for normal to oily skin types.

What I think:

This is a brilliant cleanser because first of all, it smells amazing! It's seriously the best smelling cleanser ever. My skin feels really clean, soft and refreshed after using it! The only downside is the hole where the product come out is too big I think, and since this is a milky cleanser, sometimes, too much product comes out.

I highly suggest this product!! I also suggest you give this brand a try. They also have a baby range, so instead of buying poison by Johnsons, try Weleda!

Tried and Tested: Catrice - Ultimate shine lipstick in 210 kiss kiss hibiskiss

The lipstick that I'm going to review today, people either love it or hate it. Well, All I got today was hate towards it, but since I really like it, I just laughed off all the 'What the hell do you have on your lips' comments. .

If you still haven't checked out the newly launched Catrice stand, please do go to Tony's Pharmacy in Gzira. This brand is so muh better than all the other animal tested  brands like L'Oreal or Max Factor.

The packaging of the lipsticks (and the pigmentation of the colour) are much better than the essence ones! (Catrice and essence are both by cosnova in Germany).

When you apply it, it's super pigmented and bright- and glossy. People would need to wear sunglasses to look at your lips. Not really, but yes, it's THAT bright. It glides really well on the lips and it has a slight sweet smell.

After half an hour, it was still pigmented as after first applied.

After an hour, i was still pigmented as well, but then, after an hour and a half, it was much less glossy.

After 2 hours, my cousin asked me what the hell I was wearing on my lips because it's so bright. . .he should have seen my lips a couple of hours earlier!!

After two and a half hours, my lips were still pink but mat tand the colour was fading from the sides of my mouth and flaking a bit on the top middle lip.

I'm in love with this lipstick!! I love the colour, the consistency and durability!! Can't wait to try out other colours!!

New Look: Fgura Opening vid!

Hi there Fabulous readers!

So as you may know from reading the status on our Facebook page, this morning , there was the opening of a New Look store in Fgura and I was there with Lara from Boffism (check out her New Look Fgura opening post here. ), her sister and her mother.

I was so happy to meet a reader while queuing :)

Doors were open at 10am and they gave a goody bag to the first 100 people that attended.

The store is really big and there were LOADS of people so couldn't take a proper video but I did the best I could. The new stock is ah-mazing! :)

Looking forward to checking it out again!!

Catrice Nail Lacquer in 710 Dulce & Havanna

Dulce and Havanna is a brown polish.. . . I don't think I would have bought it this was given to us at the Catrice launch event)

When it comes to nail polishes, I always tend to buy reds, pinks, blues and greens - (and every other colour as I love colours!)

I haven't used this one before, so I thought I should just give it a try and review it. Lara doesn't like this one at all, in fact, it's one of her misses in her  February hits and misses vid.

What it says:

Nail polish for ultimate colour, ultimate gloss, ultimate coverage.

The first coat (see above) is pigmented but not enough - I like my nail polish darker. It dried up pretty fast, after about 1 minute.

It looks well pigmented after the 2nd coat. I applied a slightly thicker coat, so took a bit more to dry. Once it was dry, I didn't get any smudges, like certain nail polishes.

What I think:

The colour in my opinion is not bad, but as I already said, I don't like brown nail polishes. This one reminds me of the e.l.f nail polish in Smoky Brown.

Runway Malta!

We got invited to cover and report the make-up that was applied on the models at Runway Malta, which was held last Saturday. We will be dividing the event into several posts.

It was held at the Montekristo Estate in Luqa.Door were to open at 5pm, but the people (including us) that arrived a bit early had to wait outside in the rain... while random people that were inside kept looking out from the door  . .

As we got in, they put a band around our wrist and we were given a goody bag.

There were some stands, including;

• Baystreet: which were giving a goody bag from Baystreet including Baci lingerie loyalty card, notebook and DVD.
• Emerald Inceptions

• Smart Clinic
• Calvin Klein: which were exhibiting their newest collection during the event in the form of a live photoshoot!

The 5 shows were held at the indoor auditorium, one held every hour including;

• The New Designers Fashionclash competition
• The FCUK Spring collection

• William Wilde (fashion designer from the UK) 

We will be uploading videos of all the catwalk shows in later posts with emphasis on the make up used.

gx-1 - Les Mills workout

Hello Fabulous people!

Today, I'm finally going to workout at GX-1 again after a week and a half break. Oh no, it wasn't a lazy break! I just had to wait for my arm to properly heal, after slipping a pot filled with boiling water on my left arm . .  

I started going on the 16th of February and registered for a 3 month membership.  

There's nothing like GX-1 here in Malta!! They basically have a timetable with different workouts throughout the day!  There is a selection of workouts, so you can never get bored!! The instructors are super friendly and do a great job at motivating you during the workouts!

I tried all workouts, except for the Sh'bam, as I can't attend on the day it's held.Oh and Body Pump.

Their workout are by Les Mills, which hold classes worldwide!! 

Classes at gx-1 include:

- Body Attack, which is basically a high-energy interval training class that combines athletic aerobic movements 

- Body Balance, which is the Yoga, Tai Chi and Pilates workout

- Body Combat, is a cardio workout inspired by martial arts and draws from a wide array of disciplines such as karate, boxing, taekwondo, tai chi and muay thai.

- Body Pump is a barbell class, Focusing on low weight loads and high repetition movements.

- Sh'Bam is a dance exercise class.

- Spinning is an exercise bike workout.

That was only a brief description of the workouts, so I highly suggest you check out their website for all the information, including the schedule, membership details and information about the instructors.

I'm looking forward to my workout tonight!! If you don't like gyms, but still need help to either loose weight, keep fit or tone up or simply want to try something different, gx-1 is ideal for you!!

Tried and Tested: e.l.f Glossy Gloss in Wild Watermelon Review

Hi my lovelies!!

It's such a nice day for a picnic today - NOT!!  Have you checked out our Bloopers video yet? We had no idea how funny it was until we were going to edit our February hits and misses . . it's really silly but we still wanted to share it with you guys xx

Anyway, as you know, we took part in the Beauty Editor's shoes competition a short while ago and those that ended up in the Top 10, got sent some e.l.f goodies! This is the first products from the prize that I'm going to review - Glossy Gloss in Wild Watermelon. I also have another Glossy Gloss and it's in Ballerina Slippers. Will review that later on.

Girls, if you're looking for a lot of gloss with a good colour pigment, this is fab for you!! It's seriously glossy, you guys! And it's really pigmented . . I love this colour. It's like a dark pink, very girly!

It has 6.8 g in product

The packaging is so much better than the normal range. They kind of look like Revlon lipglosses. Don't really like the applicator though...gets ruffled up.

\The consistency is a bit sticky, so you have to wipe the edges of your mouth so you don't eat your gloss! But I think that's why it's so glossy . . you can definitely fell gloss on your lips! And it smells of bubble gum!

I tried taking pictures of the gloss on my lips but the camera couldn't catch the real colour and glossiness , which is a bummer. The colour looks kind of really light, but it looks like a darker bubble gum pink in real life. After about half an hour or so, it wasn't so glossy as when applied, but my lips still had that rosy colour, which I like. Lip glosses are ment to be re-applied, that's the fun of them!
